Die-cut components and cards

HDPE mounting and insert cards

HDPE mounting cards hold a device in place inside a chevron pouch or rigid tray and protect it in transit. We die-cut them in our ISO Class 8 cleanroom from 100% virgin HDPE, 10–35 mil (0.25–0.89 mm) thick. Order die-cut cards, or plain HDPE web on rolls wound on plastic cores. Quick-turn prototypes. No minimum order.

What it's for

What it does in your package

A mounting card, also called an insert card, is a rigid backing for the device. It keeps the device from shifting, and it helps keep sharp tips and edges away from the pouch or lid.

The card goes into a chevron pouch or rigid tray with the device, as part of your packaging system, inside the sterile barrier. A device that stays put is less likely to puncture or scuff the packaging during shipping and handling.

We cut the cards from 100% virgin HDPE and convert them in our ISO Class 8 cleanroom to keep particulate low. Choose a thickness from 10 to 35 mil (0.25 to 0.89 mm) to match the stiffness the device needs.

Typical applications include

  • Chevron pouch inserts
  • Rigid tray inserts
  • Catheters and IV sets
  • Syringes and needles
  • Orthopedic instruments

Options

Options and customization

  • Custom die-cut shapes

We die-cut cards to your spec or CAD file, shaped around your device and sized for your pouch or tray.
  • Thickness

Choose a thickness from 10 to 35 mil (0.25 to 0.89 mm). Thinner cards flex more. Thicker cards keep longer or heavier devices flat.
  • Pre-cut or rollstock

Order finished die-cut cards, or plain HDPE web on rolls, wound on plastic cores, for lines that cut their own cards.
  • Sterilization

Compatible with EtO, gamma, and e-beam. Validate the card in your own package and cycle.
  • Packed for your cleanroom

Counted and double-bagged in our cleanroom, 100 per bag or your count, with a lot label on each bag and carton.

Ordering

How ordering works

  • Send a spec and we will cut prototype cards in weeks, not months.
  • There is no minimum order, so a small first run is welcome.
  1. 01

    Send a spec

Share a spec or CAD file, your customer's spec with its part number and revision, or a sketch or sample part if you don't have a spec yet. Tell us the tray or pouch it goes with and your sterilization method.

  2. 02

    Samples or first articles

For a new design, ask about samples. We cut prototypes from the production material in weeks, not months, so you can test fit and seal early. For a part that is already validated, we cut first articles to check against the approved spec. A first-article inspection report is available on request.

  3. 03

    Production, any size

No minimum order on parts we cut. Production typically ships in 2–3 weeks from your PO, and reorders are cut to the same spec revision and material.

FAQ

Common questions

All FAQs

What thicknesses are available?

Our HDPE cards are 10–35 mil (0.25–0.89 mm) thick. Thinner cards flex more and suit light devices. Thicker cards are stiffer and hold heavier devices in place. Tell us about your device and pouch or tray, and we will help you choose.

What does a mounting or insert card do?

The card sits inside a chevron pouch or rigid tray with the device. It holds the device in position and protects it during shipping and handling. It also keeps sharp edges or points away from the pouch walls.

Do the cards come pre-cut or on rolls?

Both. We supply finished cards cut to your spec, or plain HDPE web on rolls on plastic cores, for your own line. Tell us which format suits your process, along with the dimensions and quantities you need.

What material are the cards made from?

The cards are 100% virgin HDPE. We cut them in our ISO Class 8 cleanroom, so they suit use next to your device inside a sterile barrier system. No recycled material goes into them.

Which sterilization methods can I use?

HDPE cards are compatible with EtO, gamma and e-beam. Steam is not yet confirmed, so ask us before you plan a steam cycle. Compatibility depends on card thickness, the package, and your process. Validate in your own sterilization cycle.

Can I get samples?

Request samples on the quote form. Tell us the card thickness, the shape or spec, the pouch or tray it goes into, and whether you want pre-cut cards or rollstock. We will come back with a sample plan.
