Rollstock

Rollstock for your own lines

Rollstock is supplied on cores for your own lidding, pouch-making, or form-fill-seal lines. We supply coated Tyvek®, medical-grade papers, cold-seal paper, and HDPE/LDPE film, sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe. Custom sizes, printing, and seal options are quoted per project. Standard items typically ship in 3–4 weeks; custom sizes and print take 6–8 weeks and may carry a manufacturer's minimum, which we show on the quote. If your spec calls out a specific material or part number, send it: we'll confirm whether we can supply exactly that, and we won't offer an equivalent in its place without your approval.

Fit

When to choose rollstock

  • You seal packages on your own equipment

Rollstock feeds lidding, pouch-making, and form-fill-seal lines. If you want finished parts, see die-cut lids or pouches and bags.
  • You run a form-fill-seal line

Tyvek® 2FS is a lighter grade suited to high-speed form-fill-seal. HDPE/LDPE film works as a flexible bottom web on form-fill-seal lines for soft packs, not as a rigid thermoformed tray.
  • Your sterilization method needs a specific grade

Paper grades are available for steam, EtO, and gamma. For steam, the film or coating the paper seals to must also survive steam temperatures. Tell us your process and we will match the material.
  • You want one supplier for materials and components

Put rollstock on one purchase order with the lids, cards, and sheets we cut in our cleanroom.

The basics

What to know before you specify or re-source

Basis weight: gsm and lb

Basis weight is how heavy a material is for a given area. Metric specs use grams per square meter (gsm). North American paper specs often use pounds (lb) per 3,000 sq ft ream.

For coated materials, the weight usually includes the coating. Compare coated weights with coated weights, and uncoated with uncoated.

Coated vs uncoated

Uncoated Tyvek® and paper seal to a film that carries its own sealant layer, such as the PE in PET/PE film.

A heat-seal coating adds a sealant to the porous web itself. That lets it seal to rigid trays, blisters, and a wider range of films, and it shapes how the seal peels. Pattern and grid coatings leave uncoated areas so the web still breathes.

Heat-seal vs cold-seal

Heat-seal coatings bond under heat and pressure on a sealer. They suit tray lidding, blister lidding, and pouch-making.

Cold-seal coatings are cohesive. They bond only to themselves, under pressure alone, with no heat. The cold-seal paper we supply uses a cohesive coating that is not made with natural rubber latex, which suits gloves, dressings, and syringes.

Tyvek® 1073B vs 2FS

Tyvek® 1073B is the heaviest and strongest medical grade. Choose it for strength and puncture resistance: heavy devices, sharp edges, and rigid-tray lids.

Tyvek® 2FS is lighter. It is cost-effective for lighter devices and suits high-speed form-fill-seal. We supply both heat-seal coated, and both are compatible with EtO, gamma, and e-beam.

FAQ

Rollstock: common questions

All FAQs

What is rollstock, and who makes it?

Rollstock is packaging material supplied on cores for your own lidding, pouch-making or form-fill-seal lines. The range includes coated Tyvek®, medical papers and HDPE/LDPE film. It is sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe and supplied by CleanCut. Manufacturer certificates are available on request. Each lot ships with our certificate of conformance, which records the manufacturer's lot number.

Should I choose heat-seal or cold-seal material?

Heat-seal materials, such as coated Tyvek® and coated medical paper, bond to trays, films and blisters with heat and pressure. Cold-seal paper seals to itself under pressure alone. It suits gloves, dressings and syringes, and our cold-seal paper is not made with natural rubber latex.

What do you need to quote rollstock?

Tell us:

  • The material and grade, thickness, coated or uncoated, and heat seal or cold seal.
  • The web width, core inside diameter, and roll length or diameter.
  • Your sterilization method and quantities.

Custom sizes are available.
