Medical-grade sterilization paper

We supply medical-grade sterilization paper. It is 100% cellulose and free of optical brighteners, acts as a microbial barrier once sealed, and heat-seals to the sealant layer of films such as PET/PE. Grades are available for steam, and others are optimized for EtO and gamma. Sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe.

What it's for

What it does in your package

Medical paper is the porous side of many pouches and lids. It lets sterilant reach the device, then acts as a barrier to bacteria once the package is sealed.

Each grade is tuned to a sterilization method. Choose a steam grade for steam processes, or a grade optimized for EtO or gamma. Tell us your process and we will match the grade.

The paper is 100% cellulose and free of optical brighteners. It gives reliable heat-seal strength when sealed to film, which makes it a practical, economical porous web for pouch-making lines.

Typical applications include

  • Pouch and bag making
  • Form-fill-seal webs
  • Steam-sterilized packages
  • EtO- and gamma-sterilized packages

FAQ

Common questions

All FAQs

What is the paper made from?

Medical-grade sterilization paper is 100% cellulose and free of optical brighteners.

Custom widths and roll sizes are available. Give us your web width and core size on the quote form.

Which sterilization methods can I use?

The paper is compatible with EtO. Steam grades are available, and grades optimized for gamma are available too. E-beam is not yet confirmed, so ask us. Compatibility depends on grade, coating, and your process. Validate in your own sterilization cycle.

What is uncoated medical paper used for?

It is the porous side of paper and film pouches and reels. It acts as a microbial barrier and heat-seals to the sealant layer of a laminated film such as PET/PE. If you need to seal paper to a tray or blister, look at coated medical paper instead.

Does the paper meet EN 868?

Uncoated paper for sterile barrier systems is covered by EN 868-3 and EN 868-6. Adhesive-coated paper is covered by EN 868-7. We do not claim compliance on anyone's behalf. The manufacturer's EN 868 declarations are available on request. Manufacturer certificates are available on request. Each lot ships with our certificate of conformance, which records the manufacturer's lot number. Ask us which other documents your specification needs, and we will tell you what we can provide.

Who makes the paper, and can I get samples?

The paper is sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe and supplied by CleanCut. Request samples on the quote form. Tell us your sterilization method and what you are sealing it to.
