What it's for

What it does in your package

A chevron pouch is a pre-made pouch with a V-shaped seal at the opening end. The point of the V is where the peel starts, so the pouch opens with little effort and peels back in a controlled line. The user peels the two webs apart from the point and presents the device aseptically.

Tyvek® is the porous side. It lets sterilant gas in for EtO and acts as a barrier to microorganisms. The film side lets you see the device. The pouches are also compatible with gamma and e-beam.

Tyvek® peels cleanly with low particulate, which makes these pouches a common choice for needles, syringes, catheters, and small instruments.

Typical applications include

  • Syringes

FAQ

Common questions

All FAQs

Which film options are available?

Tyvek® chevron pouches have Tyvek on one side and film on the other:

  • PET/PE is the standard film.
  • PA/PE adds nylon for higher puncture resistance, which helps with sharp or pointed devices.

Why a chevron seal?

The chevron is a V-shaped seal at the opening end. The peel starts at the point, which lowers the force needed to start the peel and makes it easier to present the device aseptically. The Tyvek® side gives a clean, low-particulate peel.

Which sterilization methods can I use?

Tyvek® chevron pouches are compatible with EtO, gamma and e-beam. Steam is not yet confirmed, so ask us before you plan a steam cycle. Compatibility depends on grade, coating, and your process. Validate in your own sterilization cycle.

What devices are they used for?

Typical applications include needles, syringes, catheters and small instruments. For devices that need support inside the pouch, add one of our HDPE mounting cards (also called insert cards), cut in our cleanroom.

Can I get custom sizes or printing?

Yes. Custom sizes, printing and seal options are available, quoted per project. Tyvek® chevron pouches are sourced from qualified manufacturers in North America and Europe and supplied by CleanCut. Manufacturer certificates are available on request. Each lot ships with our certificate of conformance, which records the manufacturer's lot number.

Can I get samples?

Request samples on the quote form. Give us the inside dimensions, the film you prefer, your device and your sterilization method. We will come back with questions and a sample plan.
